Will the insurance company have someone follow me around after I’ve been injured in a car accident

If you’ve been injured in a car accident, it is very possible that the other party’s insurance company will hire an investigator to follow you around and take photographs and video of you in an attempt to destroy your case or hurt the value of your case.
In most situations, the insurance company will not hire anyone to follow you and take photographs of you, but it is entirely possible and something that you should be aware of.
The reason why insurance companies do this is to protect their bottom line, they are not merely protecting themselves from fraudulent claims. Even if you are legitimately injured, the insurance company may send out an investigator to film you in an attempt to devalue your case.
For example, if you injured your lower back from a car accident the investigator will be sent out to record you performing activities that make it appear that your lower back is not injured. They may try to record you at the gym exercising, at home doing yard work, at the grocery store picking up heavy items from the bottom shelf, etc. Even though you may doing these activities in pain, they will argue that you do not experience any pain performing these activities and if you did have pain, you would refrain from performing these activities.
Ultimately, you should be prepared for an investigator to follow you around and take photographs and video of you, but don’t be paranoid about it. The odds of that occurring are low.
If it does happen to you, contact your attorney and let them know right away. Furthermore, do not act hostile to the investigator and do not try to demonstrate to the investigator that you are injured.
