Lem Garcia Law Scholarship Winner: Brandon Martinez

After reviewing hundreds of inspiring essays from students across the country, selecting a winner was no easy task. Each applicant shared a unique story of resilience, purpose, and commitment to making a difference. But one essay stood out.
We are proud to announce that the 2024 Lem Garcia Law Scholarship winner is Brandon Martinez, a third-year law student at Harvard Law School. Brandon has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of his dedication to using the law to drive positive change.
A Future Leader in Law
Brandon’s passion for public service and legal reform shines through in everything he does. From advocating for workers’ rights to tackling environmental justice, he is committed to using the law as a force for good. His essay highlighted his deep understanding of how law shapes society and his dedication to creating meaningful change.
“I feel very blessed that Lem Garcia Law is choosing to make public service and public-interest law more achievable,” Brandon shared. “My law school education has been possible only through the encouragement of incredible family members, friends, mentors and advocates. Through his work with labor organizations, local government, and legal aid groups, Brandon has already made an impact—and he’s just getting started. He hopes to return home after graduation to continue advocating for workers and communities in need.
